Lee Mikkelson Elected President of NMRIC

erik-paulsenLee Mikkelson has been elected as the President of the National Multi Housing Resident Information Council (NMRIC).  This group of industry leaders has served as a hybrid trade group/executive council for the Resident Screening industry since 1985.  Spring meetings are held in Washington DC and include 2 days of industry related discussions as well as opportunities to meet with elected representatives and their staff to bring a broader level of awareness and understanding regarding the importance of stringent resident screening. 

While in Washington DC recently, Lee met with Noah Jacobson from Rep. Erik Paulsen‘s office and chatted about numerous industry related issues.  Lee stated, “Breaking the ice was incredibly easy as Noah is a fellow Hopkins Alumni.  I’m really looking forward to future conversations and enjoy having a point of contact that is familiar with our issues.”

The next NMRIC event is in Denver, CO and will include a slate of speakers that will discuss compliance, regulation and numerous other industry specific topics.

Planes, Trains, and Automobiles

I have just returned from my whirlwind tour of the east coast.  I started in Washington, D.C. and ventured to Fredericksburg, VA via plane, then Raleigh and Charlotte, NC by train, and finally drove by car down to Charleston, SC for the National Multifamily Resident Information Council (NMRIC) Conference!

As the Vice President of NMRIC, one of my responsibilities is scheduling the speakers, and for this event we had three fantastic speakers. The first, Steven Robinson, Area President of RPS Insurance, addressed Cyber Liability and Coverage, followed by Shoaib Qazi, Security Officer from Experian, who addressed re-seller security policy.  We closed the session out with Tim Coker, Director of Technology from All Covered, who touched on the many different aspects of online security.  All Covered is the third party consulting company that Rental Research used to obtain our NIST Security Certificate.

The next NMRIC meeting will be held in mid October in Seattle, WA.  The agenda is going to be compliance and a preparatory boot camp for our Spring 2013 NMRIC Conference in Washington, D.C.!
