Congratulations, Scott County CDA

Congratulations to our valued client, Scott County CDA, for winning the NCRC Housing Achievement Award!

The following information was shared with us by the Minnesota NAHRO, and taken from the NCRC Newsletter:

“The NCRC Housing Achievement Award goes to the Agency with the highest score from the Affordable Housing Merit Award nominees to National NAHRO. This year’s NCRC Housing Achievement Award goes to the Scott County CDA in Shakopee, MN for their Brentwood Court development in Jordan, MN. The metropolitan community of approximately 7,000 citizens was unusual in the fact that it did not have any medical clinic or a pharmacy.  The CDA obtained a 7 acre site using Special Benefit Tax Dollars and created a mixed-use campus that contained a standalone 5,000 sqft clinic with a 2,500 sqft pharmacy; a mixed use 50 unit affordable market rate senior apartment building and a new 8,000 sqft public library. The CDA coordinated the efforts of the 4 main partners to create the much needed community asset by combining multiple objectives to work together into a cohesive event.”

Congratulations, NAHRO!

The following information was shared with us by Shannon Guemsey, J.D., Executive Director of Minnesota NAHRO:

“Your Advocacy Made A Difference This Session – THANK YOU!!!

Today the bonding bill passed by the legislature goes to the Governor for signature.  The $500 million package includes housing bonds to preserve affordable housing, rehabilitate public housing and invest in supportive housing. The $5.5 million in GO Bonds for public housing rehabilitation is one of the largest commitments to this program ever.

This would not have happened without the support of many affordable housing stakeholders across the state.  Thank you for taking action during this tumultuous session as the need for housing stability was elevated to a new level with our lawmakers.  Your voice made a difference!
Want to learn more? Attend the 2012 Spring Conference for Sessions with MHFA.  These resources for public housing rehab will be featured at our Spring Conference in just two weeks. To attend the conference to learn more, register here.”
