It’s a big country we live in, with nearly 290 million people living here, and because of the freedoms we enjoy we are able to move about the country as we wish. Some people move between states for employment reasons, while others move because of problems they have encountered in their original state of residence. It’s the later type of person that is of big concern to those in charge of admissions to housing units.
Through considerable discussions with those responsible for screening applicants, we find that most applicants simply do not provide much in the way of prior addresses. Unfortunately, without prior addresses it makes it rather difficult to determine the need for histories from other states. This is a problem that is best addressed by developing a policy that requires applicants to provide their address history going back at least 10 years, and definitely listing any other states that they have resided in. If they fail to provide the information you should consider returning the application for completion. It is important to obtain this information, and it is the person that is hiding something that will be the most resistant in providing it. |

Our Instant Inquiry report will give you up to 3 states worth of statewide criminal histories and eviction reports, as long as you enter the addresses the applicant lived at in those states. But we know that some applicants are evasive, so we provided another means to determine if there are unreported addresses that you should know about. In our Housing Information section we list all addresses we find that are associated to your applicant, and we flag any address that you didn’t enter into the search. We then suggest a National Criminal Index (NCI) search to not only search the address we found, but to search through nearly 200 million criminal records from 46 states.
Our users have found countless hidden criminal records using the NCI search, and have prevented arsonists, burglars, sex offenders, spouse abusers and other undesirables from becoming their next resident (and their next big problem). Use it the next time you see an address from another state that you were not expecting. Better safe than sorry! |
